    Issey Miyake’s new London flagship store

    Avant-garde fashion house Issey Miyake has opened a new flagship store at 10 Brook Street, Mayfair. Occupying a former bank, the store was designed by multi-disciplinary designer Tokujin Yoshioka and covers over 5,000 square feet. The space carefully contrasts rough and crude elements with futuristic and sleek finishes such as blue anodised aluminium panels, a poured screed floor and slick LED lighting. Architect, designer and artist Yoshioka, who collaborates with international furniture brands such as Glas Italia, Kartell, and Lema, has an established relationship with Miyake, having previously designed other spaces and accessories for the brand.

    RE pop-up at the Baltic Centre

    Quirky home ware emporium RE is joining forces with with contemporary art centre Baltic in Gateshead for a unique pop-up shop this month. Opening on Saturday and running until the New Year, fans of RE will be able to shop for the brand’s reclaimed, restored, recycled and rediscovered objects and home accessories at the Baltic Shop, combining two great shops under one roof.  Top finds include pressed glass serve ware and tableware from RE’s own product line REgd (we particularly like the bone china botanical plates), which compliment the Baltic Shop’s art-driven product lines, contemporary prints, cards and jewellery. Sounds like one-stop-shop for Christmas shopping to us…

    Jamie Hayon’s Room 506 at Copenhagen’s Radisson Blu Royal Hotel

    Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has redesigned room 506 of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Copenhagen (also known as the SAS Royal Hotel) to match Arne Jacobsen’s original design, preserved one floor above in Room 606. Together with the hotel, Fritz Hansen invited the designer to come up with a new room design to celebrate the relaunch of Fritz Hansen‘s Drop™ chair (which was created 50 years ago for the hotel by Arne Jacobsen), along with new designs by Jaime Hayon.
