    Q&A: Laura Oakes

    We’ve had British artist and designer Laura Oakes on our radar for some time, but if you haven’t yet been acquainted with her work, you won’t be able to miss it come spring/summer 2015. Working from an old forge-turned-studio in Rye, Laura creates richly detailed homeware, furniture and textiles using layer upon layer of eclectic imagery. Antique illustrations, vintage photographs, textiles and Laura’s own drawings and photography are combined to tell stories of lost and found treasure. Vibrant, contemporary and full of personality, her designs are stocked by Liberty, Amara and her stand alone shop adjoined to her studio space in Sussex. And now, she’s just joined the stella cast of designers at Debenhams, with her range of products sitting alongside those by Betty Jackson, Jasper Conran and Abigail Ahern. Keep your eyes peeled for the range which hits stores soon – this is one designer to watch…
