    Sue Timney for West Dean at the V&A shop

    Surrealist designer Sue Timney has collaborated with arts institution West Dean on a new range of tableware and accessories. Exclusive to the V&A shop until October 5th, the collection features a weird and wonderful array of motifs inspired by West Dean founder Edward James, a patron of the surrealist movement who worked with Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.

    Harrods Design Trail

    This year’s London Design Festival saw the focus of the activities move further away from an insider event into something much more inclusive, attracting the wider public. A clear sign of this was the involvement of key retailers, namely Harrods, who have layed out a special Design Trail on their Second and third Floors, to showcase key pieces from their range.

    Pick up a guide on the second floor landing where the trail (marked out by a handy red line at floor level) starts. After taking in Zaha Hadid’s new homeware range, proceed upstairs for special designer collaborations, unique pop-ups and a few world exclusives.

    Queen’s Park Design District Union Jack project

    Tom Dixon

    New to London Design Festival, this year Queens Park Design District launches with live events, open studios, workshops and a Union Jack Flag installation lead by an array of first class designers. Bill Amberg, Christoph Behling, Tom Dixon, Ron Arad, Moritz Waldemeyer, Michiko Koshino, Georgina Goodman, and Zoe Brewer have redesigned the flag, which will be displayed through the district between 15th and 20th September – add it to your to-do list!
