    Jamie Hayon’s Room 506 at Copenhagen’s Radisson Blu Royal Hotel

    Spanish designer Jaime Hayon has redesigned room 506 of the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel Copenhagen (also known as the SAS Royal Hotel) to match Arne Jacobsen’s original design, preserved one floor above in Room 606. Together with the hotel, Fritz Hansen invited the designer to come up with a new room design to celebrate the relaunch of Fritz Hansen‘s Drop™ chair (which was created 50 years ago for the hotel by Arne Jacobsen), along with new designs by Jaime Hayon.

    A exciting new addition to London’s hotel scene has opened this month; Mondrian London has arrived on London’s South Bank. The iconic Sea Container’s House building has been transformed into a 359 room hotel with two bars, a restaurant with private dining rooms, a 56-seat cinema and a spa. Part of the Morgans Hotel chain, the Mondrian London is the first Mondrian-branded hotel outside of the United States, but has gone for a dramatically different look to its sister properties thanks to enlisting maverick British designer Tom Dixon and his Design Research Studio to create the interiors.

    Fine antiques dealer Jamb is hosting a unique exhibition of fabulously flamboyant taxidermy created by Dutch artists Sinke & Van Tongeren. The show, entitled Darwin’s Menagerie, showcases an array of beautiful species, from a spectrum of parrots including Rose Breasted Cockatoos, Blue-and-Gold Macaws and African Parrots (above), to a regal looking American White Pelican on a monumental base.
